Eskom Lights Up Lives with Mandela Day Donations

“67 Minutes of Service Brings Hope to Tshwaranang Centre for People with Disabilities”. In the spirit of Ubuntu and Nelson Mandela’s legacy, Eskom partnered with the Tshwaranang Centre for People with Disabilities to commemorate Mandela Day through its 67 minutes of service initiative on Friday, 17 July 2026.

Although Mandela Day is officially celebrated annually on 18 July, Eskom employees marked the occasion by donating food parcels and other essential items to the centre, bringing hope and much-needed support to people living with disabilities.

The initiative aimed to honour the life and legacy of the late former president and struggle stalwart, Nelson Mandela, whose lifelong commitment to serving others continues to inspire South Africans to make a positive difference in their communities.

The donated items can help the centre provide essential support to its beneficiaries while ensuring some of the daily challenges faced by the organisation. The gesture also highlighted Eskom’s commitment to giving back and strengthening relationships with local communities.

Expressing her heartfelt appreciation, project manager Mrs Patricia Mmola thanked the Eskom team for their generosity and encouragement:

“Always have hope no matter what happens.”
