Bafana Bafana have discovered their Africa Cup of Nations fate after the draw for the group stages of next year’s continental tournament was conducted in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, on Thursday night.
With South African Football Association (SAFA) President Dr. Danny Jordaan in attendance, coach Hugo Broos’ charges were drawn in Group E and will fight it out with Tunisia, Mali, and neighboring Namibia in the 34th edition of the event.
Broos will have watched the draw from Johannesburg, South Africa, as his team is in camp ahead of two international friendly matches against Eswatini and Côte d’Ivoire in the coming days.
The 1996 Africa Cup of Nations champions host Eswatini at FNB Stadium on Friday, October 13, 2023 (kick-off is at 6 p.m.) and then travel to West Africa to face next year’s AFCON hosts, Côte d’Ivoire, on October 17, 2023.
Bafana Bafana were recently held to a goalless draw by Namibia during an international friendly match played at Orlando Stadium in September.
