Dad gunned down in full view of pupils

A 34 year old Eugene Tshililo was gunned down in a hail of bullets on Tuesday afternoon while trying to intervene during an attempted hijacking.

The incident which occurred at Faranani Primary school’s main entrance in Protea Glen ,Soweto was in full view of pupils.

Speaking during the media briefing inside the school, Gauteng MEC for Education Matome chiloane described the shooting as lawlessness that has gripped the country.

“This is a sign that lawlessness has gripped in. The fact that criminals could come to a school and do what they’ve done yesterday is a demonstration that they are heartless”, added MEC Chiloane.

He further indicated that the department would provide physiological support to staff members and pupils who are traumatised by the incident.

MEC Chiloane also met with the victim’s family. While police have not arrested anyone yet, Chiloane remains adamant that this perpetrators will soon be brought to book.
