Jozi kota festival slated for April

It’s back! Get set to sample some of the tastiest township cuisine around as the hugely popular Jozi kota Festival returns to Newton in Johannesburg on the 1st of April 2023.

The annual festival has become a firm favourite in the social calendar celebrating Kasi food lifestyle and allowing visitors to try local produce, watch cooking demonstrations and meet up with friends and family.

The one day destination event will feature a variety of experience that will bring together township kota producers and brands curated to highlight and celebrate the remarkable culinary abilities throughout the townships. Organized by Xolani Machele and Luvu Limbs , in partnership with Escort, Coca- Cola, Eno, African Bank and Johannesburg Housing company, the festival aims to provide a platform for upcoming chefs and eatery outlets around the country to showcase their wonderful offerings and advertise their small businesses.

Xolani Machale also revealed that event organizers have taken things to the next level by also introducing more family friendly activities. This year the event will be bigger and better, as we have added activities manly for kids. We have a new magic theatre, which will be charged a fee per session. Parents who want to enjoy the show will have the opportunity to do so without worrying about their little ones as there will be child minders in the kids section.

Machele added that they’ve created more space to build a big lawn area for picnic vibes as they are expecting more kota lovers than in previous event. The event aim to attract students from Wits, UJ, Rosebank College, and other colleges around the area”. Concluded Machele

Jozi Kota Festival tickets can be purchased from Shoprite, Checkers, OK, and Computicket. Kids under three-years-old enter for free. Tickets cost R120 for adults, R100 for students with valid student cards, and R90 for kids between four and 12-years-old.
