Matriculants pledge not to cheat in exams

A total of 191,181 candidates are expected to write their National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams from October 30 until December 5, 2023.

As the countdown continues, the Gauteng MEC of Education, Matome Chiloane, led the 2023 NSC examination pledge signing ceremony on Monday, October 23, at Ponelopele Oracle Secondary School.

This gathering was a crucial part of preparing for the 2023 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination.

This pivotal event required qualifying candidates to officially sign a pledge, symbolizing their unwavering commitment to upholding the NSC Examination Code of Conduct. This pledge holds immense significance, emphasizing the integrity and dedication of each student undertaking these important exams.

Furthermore, MEC Chiloane used this occasion to provide a media briefing regarding the province’s readiness for these upcoming examinations. He also took the opportunity to provide an update on the 2024 Online Admissions learner placement process for grade 1 and 8 students.

According to MEC Chiloane, there are over 1,000 accredited examination centers across the province. “These include 738 public centers, 277 independent centers, and another 93 activated for part-time and repeater candidates, added MEC Chiloane.

The visit to Ponelopele Oracle Secondary School marked a significant moment in the academic calendar, setting the tone for the days leading up to the commencement of the NSC examination.
