Soweto Marathon Runners Gear Up For Slog

The 2022 edition of the ever-growing annual Soweto Marathon will make its triumphant comeback in November with roughly 40,000 athletes from across the country. The 27th edition of the people’s race has made a bold move to extend the closing date of entries after numerous calls from athletes.

The race is pencilled in for Saturday, November 6, and will start and finish at FNB stadium in Nasrec, Johannesburg. The race will consist of three categories- the standard marathon (42.2 km), which will set off at 5:30am; the (21.1 km) which stars at 6:30am; and the 10km run from 7:30am.

Entries will remain open until the entry cap is reached, so says Soweto Marathon Trust Chairman Sello Khunou. ” We understand the pressure that our valued runners are under- and as such we are allowing them to enter to participate in their beloved people’s race. We take note too of their recent participation in other races and know that once the athletes have recovered adequately,  they’ll be waiting to hit the streets once more.”

Khunou further indicated that the Soweto Marathon promises to deliver another top event. Athletes are encouraged to enter by clicking on the button below:
