Making money local: Changing the leakage narrative in the informal economy
The South African informal economy already has scale. Estimated at between R900 billion to R1 trillion in economic activity, the sector thrives and survives around the daily lives of those who live and work within it. And yet, much of the value and revenue created by this economy doesn’t circulate within its communities for long.
