The Public Servants Association vows to shut the country if demands are not met
The Public Servants Association embarked on a national strike on the 10 November 2022, to the National Treasury to hand over the memorandum of demands to the officials, this comes after the government stopped the negotiation that lead to the strike.
The PSA wanted 10% increase, however as a compromise they went down to 6.5% to cushion the high cost of living of which the government says they will commit to 3%.
Acting Chief Operating Officer Laura Mseme commits to prioritize the
memorandum of demands on Thursday. The National Treasury were given seven days to respond to the list of demands, tabled in the memorandum. The leader of the Public Servants Association Lufuno Mulaudzi said “if he (The President) doesn’t respond within seven working days, we are going to shut the country down.”
