The purpose of the handover was to provide learners with access to advanced BrailleNote Touch technology, enabling them to study more independently and effectively. These devices are designed to make learning easier, improve access to educational resources, and enhance academic performance. The initiative marks a significant advancement in educational opportunities for visually impaired learners.

Speaking during the event, Jicama89 Director Miss Shaneen Sila highlighted the significance of providing learners with these innovative educational tools:

To all learners receiving these devices, believe in your abilities, and never let any obstacles define your future. These BrailleNote Touch devices are tools to help you unlock your potential, pursue your dreams, and achieve great things. Continue working hand in hand, stay curious, and remember that your determination and resilience are your greatest strength.”

These devices are intended to empower learners by giving them greater independence both inside and outside classrooms. The advanced technology allows them to access educational materials more efficiently, complete schoolwork with confidence, and participate fully in their learning journey. Access to the same level of information as their peers helps build self-belief, makes learning fun, and also encourages academic excellence.

Miss Reginald Tshabalala, as a manager of employee relations and transformation at Komatsu South Africa, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the development of visually impaired learners through the donations:

“This donation reflects Komatsu’s commitment to making a meaningful difference in the communities where we operate as a business; we recognize that investing in inclusive education is a key to building a more equitable and sustainable future. By providing BrailleNote Touch devices to learners at Sibonile School for the visually impaired and blind, we are helping to ensure that no learners are left behind in an increasingly digital world. For us, this initiative is more than technology; it speaks to our broader role as responsible corporate citizens, one that not only contributes to sustainable, long-term progress but also one where we see this as an investment in human potential, supporting learners to build the skills, independence, and confidence needed to shape their own futures. Ultimately, this donation forms part of our broader commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, where we strive to create inclusive, future-focused communities and unlock the full potential of every individual.

The donations marked the beginning of a new chapter for Sibonile School, creating greater opportunities for both learners and educators by making learners more accessible and inclusive.

At the conclusion of the handover, each learner received their BrailleNote Touch devices with excitement and joy, their bright smiles reflecting the positive impact that this initiative will have on their education journey and future success.
