Kaizer Chiefs Set to Face Zimbabwe Champions Scottland FC in 2026 Toyota Cup

Kaizer Chiefs, in partnership with Toyota South Africa Motors, have officially launched the third edition of the Toyota Cup, which is set to take place on Sunday, 26 July 2026, at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Rustenburg.

The annual pre-season tournament has rapidly become one of the most anticipated fixtures on the South African football calendar, offering supporters an exciting blend of football, entertainment, community engagement and charitable initiatives through Toyota’s Heart on Sleeve Corporate Social Investment programme.

This year’s edition will see Amakhosi take on reigning Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League champions Scottland FC. The Zimbabwean side is expected to feature former Kaizer Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona and former Mamelodi Sundowns star Khama Billiat, adding extra excitement to the encounter.

The Toyota Cup was first introduced in 2024 when Kaizer Chiefs hosted Tanzania’s Young Africans in Bloemfontein. In 2025, the tournament moved to Durban, where Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko were the invited guests. Both editions included a legends match curtain-raiser, a tradition that will continue this year.

Fans attending the 2026 Toyota Cup can look forward to a full day of football action. Gates will open at 09:00, while proceedings begin at 12:00 with a legends exhibition match between Kaizer Chiefs Legends and Jozi Masters. The match will feature former Bafana Bafana internationals and football icons from various clubs. The main clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Scottland FC is scheduled to kick off at 15:00.

Speaking at the launch, Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director Jessica Motaung expressed excitement about the return of the competition.

“We are delighted to welcome back the Toyota Cup for the third consecutive year. The match is important preparation for the team and new coach before we kick off the 2026/27 season. Reflecting on the past two editions fills us with pride, and we are grateful to Toyota for their continued partnership and support,” she said.

Toyota South Africa Motors has once again pledged to reward supporters with a vehicle giveaway competition. While previous editions saw fans win a Toyota Corolla Cross, this year one lucky supporter will drive away in a brand-new Toyota Hilux Double Cab 2.8 GD-6 RB SRX 6AT. The winner will be announced during halftime of the main match.

To enter the competition, supporters must purchase a match ticket and SMS their valid ticket number to 48952. Additional consolation prizes will also be awarded to finalists.

Toyota South Africa Motors General Manager for Marketing and Communications, Tasneem Lorgat, said the company remains committed to both football supporters and community development.

“Collaborating with Kaizer Chiefs to bring top African opposition has been immensely rewarding. Equally important is our tradition of rewarding loyal supporters with brand-new motor vehicle giveaways. This year, we continue that legacy with a new Toyota Hilux Double Cab prize,” said Lorgat.
She also confirmed that Toyota will conduct a community outreach programme in Rustenburg as part of its Heart on Sleeve initiative ahead of the event.

The Toyota Cup also serves as a crucial preparation fixture for Kaizer Chiefs as they gear up for the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup campaign. Facing a strong side such as Scottland FC is expected to provide valuable competitive experience for the Soweto giants.

Motaung added that supporters will also get their first glimpse of the club’s new home and away kits, as well as the team’s new coach and technical staff ahead of the upcoming season.

Tickets for the Toyota Cup went on sale on 9 June 2026 through Computicket, Shoprite and Checkers outlets nationwide at a cost of R80 per ticket. Information regarding suite tickets and hospitality packages will be announced at a later stage.

With exciting football action, fan giveaways and community outreach initiatives on the programme, the 2026 Toyota Cup promises to be a memorable occasion for football supporters across South Africa.
