Broos confirms final Bafana squad for Zimbabwe and Rwanda clashes

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has confirmed his final squad for the decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Rwanda this month.
South Africa will face Zimbabwe at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Friday, 10 October 2025, before returning home to host Rwanda at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga on Tuesday, 14 October 2025. Both matches are scheduled to kick off at 18:00.
The announcement comes just days after FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee sanctioned the South African Football Association (SAFA) for fielding ineligible midfielder Teboho Mokoena during the qualifier against Lesotho in March. Despite the setback, Broos insists his team remains fully focused on the task ahead.
“It is an extra motivation for me, and I will try to transfer it to the group (the whole team), even though I know that I do not have to because they will be ready for these two games,” said Broos.
Bafana will assemble in Roodepoort on Monday, 6 October, where they will train until Thursday before flying to Durban for their clash with Zimbabwe. The squad will then travel to Mbombela on Saturday to prepare for the decisive encounter against Rwanda.
Broos has called on supporters to pack the stands and rally behind the national team during this crucial final stretch of the qualifiers.
“We need the 12th man in the stadiums to ensure the players feel the love from all South Africans,” urged the Belgian coach.
