JMPD OFFICERS RESPOND TO ARMED ROBBERY, ARREST THREE SUSPECTS

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) can confirm that three suspects have been arrested and one fatally wounded following an armed robbery that occurred on Goldman Street in Florida, Roodepoort.

On Saturday 20 September 2025, at approximately 13:30, JMPD officers were patrolling in the area of Florida Station when they heard gunshots. They immediately responded to a business at 27 Goldman Street, where they found a robbery in progress.

Upon arrival, officers confronted four male suspects. Two of the suspects were armed and had allegedly fired shots inside the business. The officers managed to apprehend three of the suspects. One suspect was fatally wounded during the confrontation.

Two firearms were recovered from the scene, both with filed-off serial numbers. The three suspects have been arrested and detained at the Florida South African Police Service (SAPS) on charges of business robbery, attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearms.

The JMPD commends the swift and decisive action of officers which led to the successful arrest of the suspects and the recovery of dangerous firearms. The JMPD remains committed to protecting the community and ensuring a safer Johannesburg.
