Residents of Kagiso 2 and surrounding areas benefited from a two-day health awareness campaign, hosted by Rotary Family Health with various stakeholders. The campaign was held at Kagiso 2 Community Hall on Thursday, March 06, 2026.

The campaign was organized in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Health and the South African National AIDS Council. The initiative formed part of build-up activities leading to World Stop TB Day and aimed to reach approximately 350,000 young people across the West Rand.

On Thursday morning, community members of Kagiso flooded the hall to access free health services and also to be informed about prioritizing their health and how important it is to be regular. Check yourself or take your treatment seriously.

The main aim of the campaign was to bring health services closer to the communities of West Rand, making it easier for residents to access free medical assistance and information while encouraging them to prioritize their health.

Speaking during the campaign, Mr Tsitsi Motholo, from the Gauteng Premier’s Office, highlighted the importance of such an outreach programme.

“We must continue to organize community campaigns like this because they bring essential services closer to the people. Community members of Kagiso 2 are encouraged to make use of these free health services whenever they are available,” he said.

The campaign also helped address the challenges faced by residents who often struggle to access services from the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) and the Department of Home Affairs.

During the two-day event, community members received various free health services, screening, and treatments provided by various health departments. The campaign was well received by the residents who welcomed the opportunity to access services within their community.
