Bonalesdi Campus nursing students recently hosted a successful skills information empowerment campaign aimed at uplifting the youth of Kagiso 2. The event took place on Tuesday, 21 April 2026, at the Memorial and Recreation Centre in Kagiso 2.
The venue was filled with energetic and hopeful young people from Kagiso and surrounding areas. Many attendees currently facing unemployment came eager to explore opportunities in education, training, and the job market.
The event was supported by key stakeholders who played an important role in providing valuable information and guidance to participants:
* WestCol Campus
* South African Police Station Kagiso 2
* HCFC
* GEM MEG
* J&APPT
* Social Development
* Fanyana Nhlapo Clinic
The main goal of the initiative was to equip young people with knowledge about available learning opportunities and career pathways. It also focuses on encouraging self-reliance, independence, and informed decision-making when it comes to career choices. Attendees were introduced to resources, such as training programs and bursaries, that could help them further their studies.
One of the highlights of the event was a motivational message from Mr Morwa Ngobeza, a nursing student at Bonaleside Campus. He urged young people to fully utilise the resources at their disposal:
“We should make use of what we have instead of focusing on our limitations. It made me realise that in today’s world, we have easy access to information through smartphones and other resources. If we don’t take advantage of this information to improve ourselves and build a better future, no one else will do it for us. Therefore, it’s important to use whatever we have to grow and succeed.”
The campaign also created a valuable platform for young people to engage directly with professionals and mentors from various fields. This interaction allowed them to ask questions, gain clarity on career paths, and build confidence in pursuing their goals.
Overall, the event was a meaningful step towards addressing youth high unemployment by connecting them with opportunities and inspiring them to take charge of their future.
