A recent video circulated on social media where Roman Pizza’s employees were recorded scrapping off and reusing pizza boxes from the waste plastic bag in Daveyton at Mayfield Square Shopping Centre.
Outraged by this video, people went to social media and shared their frustration and shock at the Romans Pizza’s employees. An X user said, “You thought it’s only spaza shops that do nonsense. Even big companies don’t care about people’s health; they care about profits. Now I know why their pizza’s taste funny.”
Deeply disturbed by this incident, Romans Pizza CEO John Nicolakakis said, “We are taking this matter seriously and have launched a thorough investigation into the incident.” He further adds that we have a zero-tolerance policy towards any behaviour that compromises our brand, products, procedures, and hygiene standards.
Romans Pizza’s customer said, “Romans Pizza does not adhere to infection control and prevention principles; their kitchen personnel serve as cameramen with their work uniforms, of which they return to the shop kitchen without any sanitation of their workwear. This has been going on and on; I reported on their feedback site that they have seemingly not responded to the complaint.”
