Words of the Organiser

As Environmental Education and Awareness Officer Mrs Zama Ngidi said, “A career exhibition is a fantastic opportunity for learners to explore various career options and acquire valuable knowledge regarding different industries and sectors. It’s advisable that it be an annual event because every small step counts, and collective efforts can lead to significant positive change.”

Workshop Focus Areas

The campaign was structured to create an environment of:

Networking

Career Guidance

Hands-on Experience

Insights into industry trends

Access to resources

As a youth development perspective for leadership and personal growth, Dr Lesego Mawela emphasised the importance of career exhibitions in township schools, saying:

“Career exhibitions are crucial, especially in townships where South Africa faces high school dropoutrates.  One way to encourage children to stay in school is to help them develop clarity of purpose. Learners must understand that their daily choices shape their future. Having the right values and making consistent positive choices helps build strong character over time. Personally, I grew up fearing failure because I believed it would make me a bad person – but studies show that there’s no success without failure. We must teach learners to embrace failure as part of the learning process. Reflecting on mistakes helps build resilience, confidence, and a positive attitude.”

At the end of the programme, Learners engaged with different stakeholders to asklearners questions, gather more information, and learn about study opportunities in various career fields. The event successfully equipped learners with inspiration and tools they need to create a brighter, more informed future.
