South Africa will host the Spring Davos World Economic Forum in 2027

South Africa will host the special World Economic Forum Spring in April 2027. Minister Ronald Lamola said, “The upcoming summit will be hosted either in Johannesburg or Cape Town.”

South Africa in 2019 hosted the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Cape Town. The latest announcement shows the return of the summit to SA, amid global uncertainty due to the unpredictability of U.S. President Donald Trump and the exclusion of South Africa, the founding member of the G20, in America in 2026.

In the media brief held in Davos, Switzerland, Minister Ronald Lamola said, “South Africa’s presidency of the G20 was marked by its bridge-building role, successfully navigating geopolitical tensions amongst members to secure consensus on key priorities and deliverables. Guided by the spirit of inclusivity and cooperation, South Africa ensured that the G20 remained focused on solutions rather than divisions.” ”.

He further stated that South Africa adopted a pragmatic approach to its presidency, balancing an ambitious developmental agenda with the imperative of consensus. We hope to continue on this path in the World Economic Forum 2027 spring meeting.

The World Economic Forum will bring stakeholders from across regions, industries and generations. It brings together leaders from government, business, civil society and the scientific and cultural domains to enable real dialogue and proven solving of challenges.
