The main objective of the campaign was to celebrate Youth Day while empowering young people through sports and education. The event aimed to promote sport participation among the youth; foster leadership development; encourage educational growth; and bring the community together in a positive and inspiring environment.

The Foundation also used the occasion to educate young people in Kagiso 2 about the historical significance of 16th June 1976 and the sacrifices made by previous generations in the struggle for freedom. Organisers encouraged the youth to learn about their history, appreciate the victories achieved by their ancestors, and continue building a better future for their communities.

Speaking at the event, the founder of the EYETHU-YARONA Foundation, Mr Thokozani Mqine, expressed his gratitude to the stakeholders and the community for their continued support:

Firstly, we would like to take this time to thank all our stakeholders for walking this journey with us. To all the children who participated in the event, stay positive; we will eventually reach our goal. If these are our hardships, then we keep striving, and soon we will reap the rewards of all the hard work you put in during the EYETHU-YARONA Foundation. We hope to have more sponsors and funding to continue doing our annual event so we can keep changing lives.

The Youth Day celebration sought to encourage and uplift young people through sports, education, and community development initiatives. Despite the social challenges facing many communities, the foundation remains committed to promoting positivity, nurturing talent, and creating opportunities for growth and development among the youth.

The event concluded with an award ceremony, where winners from various sporting activities received trophies and medals in recognition of their participation, dedication, and outstanding performances.

Through initiatives such as these, the EYETHU-YARONA Foundation continues to play an important role in empowering young people, strengthening community bonds, and preserving the legacy of South Africa’s youth.
