GAUTENG TRAFFIC WARDENS RECOVER STOLEN VEHICLES IN SOWETO
The Gauteng Traffic Wardens STT have recovered two burnt vehicle shells following a tip-off from the Lufheng community in Soweto regarding a suspected vehicle stripping site.
In a media statement, the department says the abandoned vehicles, believed to be stolen, were found in bushes near Flower Road.
“Officers responded to the tip-off and proceeded to the identified area, where they successfully recovered both vehicle shells.”
During the operation, documents belonging to one of the vehicle owners were found inside one of the vehicles. The owner was later traced to Mogale City in Krugersdorp.
Both recovered vehicles were subsequently booked at the Lenasia Vehicle Safeguarding Site (VSS) for safekeeping and further investigation.
Authorities have commended the Lufheng community for their vigilance and cooperation, stressing that community involvement remains key in the fight against crime.
The Gauteng Traffic Wardens have reiterated their commitment to improving safety and security across the province.
