Matric Top Achievers Awards Ceremony 2025

West Rand District Municipality, in collaboration with the Gauteng West Department of Education, recently hosted the matric class of 2025 Top Achievers Awards Ceremony to celebrate academic excellence. The event took place at the Westonaria Banquet Hall on Friday, February 06, 2026.
The ceremony aimed to honour and recognise the outstanding matric learners of the class of 2025 and also high schools across the West Rand District for their exceptional performance in the 2025 academic year. The awards served not only as a celebration of hard work and dedication but also as a source of motivation for younger learners and the current class of 2026 to strive for academic success.
Several key stakeholders played a vital role in making the event a success:

* Metropolitan

Their support demonstrated a strong commitment to education and youth development within the district.
Addressing attendees at the ceremony, Mogale City Executives Mayor Lucky Sele emphasised the importance of collaboration and open dialogue.
“Let’s call for a unified approach in addressing the challenges faced by schools and communities, highlighting the need for meaningful engagement and interventions to improve educational outcomes.”
At the conclusion of the ceremony, top-performing learners and educators, including heads of 5 schools, were awarded with certificates and some with cash prizes across various categories. Some learners also received trophies in recognition of outstanding achievements in specific subjects, making them exceptional performers in their fields.
The matric Top Achievers Awards reaffirmed the district’s commitment to celebrating excellence, inspiring learners, and investing in the future of education in the West Rand.
