Kaizer Chiefs Sign Angolan International


Kaizer Chiefs have announced the signing of defender Inacio Miguel Ferreira dos Santos from Angolan giants Petro de Luanda signed a three-year deal ahead of their first match of the new Premier Soccer League season.


Miguel started his career playing for different youth teams in Portugal, including Braga B, followed by stints at Romanian outfit U Cluj, Mafra in the second tier of his native country, and FK Liepaja in the Latvian top-flight division.


The 28-year-old centre-back becomes the first Angolan to sign for the Soweto giants’ first team and is the fifth acquisition in the ongoing transfer window following the arrivals of Fiacre Ntwari and Bongani. Sam, Rushwin Dortley, and Gaston Sirino.


The Portuguese-born player got his first taste of African football when he joined the Angolan champions in January 2023 on a free transfer and instantly became an important figure in the squad, helping them in the CAF Champions League and the domestic trophies they won.


Amakhosi is hoping to reap from his experience as they look to end their nine-year trophy drought. with the club also heavily criticized for leaking goals last season, subsequently leading to their worst finish 10th in the league in the PSL era. “We are happy to have a player of Inacio Miguel’s calibre join our team,” said Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jnr.


“We’ve watched him and believe his experience, skill, and passion for the game embody the spirit of Kaizer Chiefs and will add a lot of positives to the team. “We believe that he will contribute significantly with his talent and are looking forward to working with him as he writes another chapter of his career in South Africa.” Motaung Jnr added.


The Chiefs will kick off their 2024–25 campaign with a Betway Premiership match against Marumo Gallants at the Free State Stadium on September 14 (17:30) with new head coach Nasreddine Nabi at the helm after missing out on MTN8 qualification.
